Mrs. Mary B. Luke, 87, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 4 P.M. Wednesday, June 17 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne McCrimmon officiating. Interment will follow in Luke Cemetery, Ben Hill County. Visitation will be held 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Luke was born December 10, 1921 in Ben Hill County to the late Henry and Leah Minix Snellgrove. She lived in Fitzgerald all of her life. Mrs. Luke was the dietician at Roanoke School for nineteen years and taught Culinary Arts at Ben Hill-Irwin Technical School for one year. She was a member of the Bernhardt Singers, loved to fish and travel and was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwin County.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Tommie M. & Dee Eastridge and Cynthia W. & Bobby Dean both of Fitzgerald; 4 grandchildren, Pam Ross, Jamie Dean, Phillip Dean and Jad Dean all of Fitzgerald and 9 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wiley Luke, six sisters and three brothers.
