Obituary

Mary Melko Dickey was born on August 26, 1917 in Chicago Illinois. She was the daughter of Ukranian immigrants, Harry Melko and Catherine Melko. She was a member of Mt. Liberty Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for elementary children until her illness prevented her attendance.

Mary was employed in her early years at RL Donnelly in Chicago then at Ben Franklin and TWL stores in Water Valley, Mississippi until she was 77 years of age. She leaves behind a host of friends and family who will miss her purity and shining example of Christian faith.

The visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS Monday, June 15, 2009 from 5 to 7 pm. The funeral service will be held at Mt. Liberty Church in Calhoun County, MS Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Bro. Charles Keel presiding. The committal will be held in Mt. Liberty Cemetery.

Mary is survived by her children, Karen Conwill (Jim)of Tupelo, MS, Allen Dickey, Phillip Dickey (Kathy) and Janet Dickey all of Water Valley, MS; four grandchildren, Melissa Conwill, Amy South, (husband Jeremy), Jeffrey Dickey and Jarrod Dickey; one great grandson, Brennan Daniel South; and her only sister Helen Lackhouse of Chicago, Illinois.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vista Lee Dickey and her two brothers, John Melko, her twin and Russell Melko.
