Arthur C. Staffiere, of South Yarmouth, formerly of Medford, died Friday in the Newton-Wellesley Hospital, after a long illness. He was 79.
Born and raised in Chesea, he was the son of the late Antonio and the late Gaetana (Chirichiello) Staffiere.
Arthur graduated from Medford High School and immediately entered the US Navy and served in the Pacific during World War II on the aircraft carrier Bunker Hill.
After the war, Arthur worked as a self employed carpenter until his retirement. He was a member of United Commercial Travelers and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Arthur was the beloved husband of the late Thelma (Renda). He was the devoted father of Jean O’Connor of Weston and Arthur C. Staffiere, Jr. of Winchester. He was a loving grandfather to Christina, Matthew, Julia, Katherine and Lydia and dear companion of Dorothy O’Toole of Dennis.He was the brother of Mary “Mimi” Lucia of Winchester and the late Phyllis Spinetti, Elizabeth Giacobbe, Ann Luca, Emilio “Lefty”, William, and Raymond Staffiere and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Mary Church, 155 Washington Street, Winchester, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
