Dorothy H. Copeland, 94, of Fitzgerald, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 11, at Westchester Gardens Rehab & Care Center in Clearwater, Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 17, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Keith Goodlett officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will he held from 6:00 until 8:00 on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Copeland was born July 30, 1914 in Fitzgerald to the late John and Annie Goff Hurt. She was a homemaker who devoted much of her life to her husband's woodcarving occupation. A life long resident of Fitzgerald, Mrs. Copeland was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Upper Room Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Fitzgerald Pilot Club and the Cherokee Garden Club.
Mrs. Copeland is survived by a son, Robert J. (Wilma) Fletcher of Clearwater, FL; daughters, Phyllis (Larry) Goldsworthy of Troy, MI, Bonnie C. Justice and Connie M. Coffey both of Fitzgerald; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.M. Copeland, Jr., a son, John C. Fletcher, and a granddaughter, Cheryl Coffey.
