Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Michael Jay Calder, age 37, a lifelong resident of the Wilmington and Tewksbury area, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at his home, with his family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Nancy M. (Gailius) (Merritt) Calder, with whom he celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary on May 19, 2009
Born in Woburn on August 11, 1971, he was the son of Barbara (Myott) Calder, who survives him, of Tewksbury and the late Milton E. Calder, Sr.
Michael was raised in Wilmington, attended Wilmington schools and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1991. Following graduation, he attended Middlesex Community College, where he received a certificate in Hazardous Waste Management.
In 2003, he founded and operated Mike's Affordable Painting Company later known as Colorful Solutions Painting Company of Wilmington and Tewksbury. Mike previously worked as a laboratory chemical technician for the Zeneca Resins Company of Wilmington, the Tri-Star Technologies Company of Methuen and Jenike & Johanson, Inc. of Westford.
Michael was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved fishing and boating. In addition, he enjoyed cooking, riding four-wheelers, collecting war memorabilia and constructing military models.
Michael and his late father, Milton, were both certified gunsmiths and previously owned and operated M&M Collectibles formerly of Wilmington.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two step-daughters, Samantha S. and Catherine J. Merritt, both of Tewksbury; one brother, Milton E. Calder, Jr. and his companion Jennifer Sorenson of Burlington; one sister, Melanie Wescott and her husband Mark of Tewksbury; one niece, Madison Wescott; one nephew, Cole Wescott; also many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends both in Massachusetts and West Virginia.
Calling hours Friday, June 12th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral service Saturday, June 13th, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
