Obituary

WORCESTER/STORRS, CT—Joshua R. Gold, of Storrs, CT, died Wednesday June 3. He was 38 years old.




He is survived by his wife Joyce Tsai; his parents Jay and Joan (Ogasapian) Gold of Worcester; his sister Rebecca Gold and her husband James Wood of Great Barrington, MA; his sister Miriam Gold and her husband Richard Van Le of New York City; and his nephews Max Wood and Eli Wood.




Joshua was educated in the Worcester public school system before receiving a B.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in German Literature from Princeton University. Before joining the faculty of Modern and Classical Languages at the University of Connecticut, he taught at Washington College and Johns Hopkins University. His courses and publications addressed poetry, philosophy, literary criticism, political theology, and film.




A memorial gathering will be held.
