Robert GIANFRANCESCO, 87, of Tamarac Drive, founder of Bob Frances Interiors in North Providence retiring in 1983, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Greenville Health Center. He was the beloved husband of Frances (Romeo) Gianfranceso. They were married for 57 years.
Born in Providence a son of the late Vincent and Julia (Segrella) Gianfrancesco, he lived in Greenville for 15 years, previously living in Lincoln.
Mr. Gianfrancesco was an Army veteran of WWII and served in the legendary , 782nd Airborne Ordnance Company, 82nd Airborne Division including jumps into Africa, Sicily, Salerno and the D-Day Invasion of Normandy He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division Assoc., Gauvin Chapter, 13th Airborne Division Assoc., Veterans of Foreign Wars, a current member of Martin County Country Club in Stuart, FL and former member of Lincoln Country Club, the Providence Lions and he had been a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 1 in Pawtucket.
He is also survived by his children, Alan and his wife, Erna of North Providence, Cynthia Gianfrancesco and her husband, Chuck Horbert of North Scituate, Richard D. of Clearwater, FL, David of Osteen, FL, and Barbara Godfrey of Edgewater, FL, grandchildren, Simone, Stacey, Scott, Tim, Bonnie and Kelley; 6 great grandchildren and a sister, Michelle “Mickey” Mullen of Fargo, ND.
Funeral Friday at 8:30 am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville.
