Salem: William B. ‘Mac-a-do’ McDonald age 81 of Salem, died suddenly Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Lahey Clinic North in Peabody.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late William B. and Florence (LePage) McDonald. A graduate of Beverly High, ‘Mac’ has always worked in the construction industry and for most of his career for the J.J. Welch Construction Co. He loved his work, and following his retirement, he continued to work part time up to the last minute of his life.
Mac was devoted to his grand-daughter. He was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish of Salem, the Lafayette Associates and the V.F.W. Post 1524 all of Salem.
He is survived by 5 daughters, Sharon C. Armstrong and her husband Roger of Salem, Donna Ouimette of Arizona, Christine Mariani of Bedford, Susan Cram and her husband Richard and Lizzie Baer and her husband Dave, all of Beverly, 3 sons: Michael Ouimette of Methuen, Robert Ouimette of New Hampshire and Charles Britto of Arkansas, a grand daughter Nicole Armstrong and many other grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wives, Rita McDonald Shepard and Claire Ouimette McDonald and leaves many devoted friends including Cathy Dionne and Paul ‘Farmer’ Boucher.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 8 a.m. to be followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 a.m. Visiting hours: Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NSMC Cancer Walk c/o NSMC Foundation, 81 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
