Fall River – Gideon J. Banville, Sr., 89, of Westport died at Charlton Memorial Hospital on July 17, 2003 after a long illness. He was husband of the late Sophie C. (Stec) Banville.
He was born in Sandy Bay, Canada son of the late Pierre and Claudia (Leclair) Banville and resided in Fall River, moving to Westport in 1950. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport. The former Midland Print in Fall River employed him as a foreman until his retirement in 1964.
Mr. Banville was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Westport.
Survivors include a son: Gideon J. Banville, Jr. of Farmington, CT; a daughter: Stella M. Krudys of Fall River; a sister: Lauretta Couto of Swansea; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
He was brother of the late Alfred Banville, Damase Banville, Apheda Berger-Rousseau, Albertine Roy, Zilda Thibault, Florida Desmarais, Lydia Dubrieul and Marthe Paquette.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be from the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport Saturday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Notre Dame Church, Fall River at 9:00 A.M.
Calling hours Friday 5-8 P.M.
Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
