Dr. Ruth M. (Glynn) Skeffington, 91, of South Dartmouth died July 15, 2003 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility in New Bedford.
She was the wife of the late Dr. Harry J. Skeffington, daughter of the late John L. and Mary Ethel (Gates) Glynn, and stepdaughter of the late Anna (Gendron) Glynn.
Born in Roslindale and raised in Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury, she lived in Melrose then Holliston before moving to South Dartmouth 9 years ago.
Along with her husband Harry, she graduated from Middlesex University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Worcester. Most of her medical career was spent working at Boston Lying-In Hospital , Boston Floating Hospital and Leonard Morse Hospital.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the proud mother of six daughters.
Survivors include 6 daughters, Eileen B. Conlon, and her husband George, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Ruth M. DiRusso, and her husband Philip, of Tampa, Florida, Mary E. Lewis of Malden, Cathryn A. O'Neill, and her husband David, of South Dartmouth, Judith A. Skeffington of Milford, and Nora G. Thompson, and her husband Scott, of Waimanato, Hawaii; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Ethel Matthews.
