AUBURN-Carol A. (Gifford) Conlin, of Auburn, died peacefully Thursday, June 4th in her home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She leaves her devoted caregiver of 29 years, Jan F. Perry; three loving daughters, Kellie A. Mattress and her husband Raymond of Auburn, Melissa A. Conlin-Stolberg and her wife Donna of Millbury and Shawna A. Conlin and her partner Terry Monette of Worcester; six cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Domenic, Kyle, Tyler, Adrianna and John; her brother, Gilbert Gifford and his wife Kathy of Arizona; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Her brother, Kenneth Gifford predeceased her.
Carol was born in Worcester on January 9, 1942, the daughter of Gilbert M. Gifford, Sr. and Barbara A. (Taft) Gifford. She was a graduate of the former High School of Commerce. Carol worked for many years at Kiddie Kastle and Deb Shop on Millbury Street in Worcester where she fulfilled a passion of making children feel good about whom they are and how they looked. Upon their closing, Carol went to work for NGM Insurance in Auburn, retiring in 2002. Carol’s love for life and people was endless. She would always have a good word, a hug and a smile for everyone, but her biggest joy in life was her six grandchildren.
The funeral is Monday, June 8th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, June 7th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Neady Cats, P.O.
