John P. DeFalco, of Medford. died Tuesday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was 87.
Born and raised in Boston’s North End, he was the son of the late Michael and the late Elvira (Tranchese) DeFalco. John served in the Army during World War II.
A Medford resident for over 30 years, John had previously lived in the West End. For many years John was a waiter and then manager of Marliave Café on Bromfield Street, Boston.
He was the beloved husband of the late Esther (Crivello). He was the devoted father of Susan DeStefano and her husband Dan of Boxborough, Joan Shields and her husband Jerry, Elvira “Ellie” DeFalco, and Denise DeFalco all of Medford. He was a loving grandfather of Danielle and Jon DeStefano, Jennifer, Joseph, and Christopher Shields, Erica and Nicholas Potenza, and great grandfather of Michael DeStefano. He was the brother of Charles DeFalco, Augustine “Olga” Coppola, both of Medford and the late Louisa Casiello, Josephine Palumbo, Antonio, Nicholas, and Andrew DeFalco.
His funeral mass will be offered Saturday at 11 am in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Friends may visit Friday from 2- 4 & 7 - 9 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
