Laura B. (Souza) Reyckert, 87, of Westport passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was wife of the late Raymond R. Reyckert.
Born in Dartmouth, daughter of the late Manuel B. and Maria (d’Almeida) Souza, she had lived in Westport since 1946. Prior to retirement, she was a machine operator for the former Har-Lee Manufacturing Company in Fall River and Stella-Ann of Fall River. Mrs. Reyckert was a Communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport and she served as warden of precinct A during elections for the Town of Westport. She enjoyed traveling and knitting.
Survivors include a daughter: Susan M. Varanese and her husband Patrick of W. Warwick, RI; 4 brothers: John B. Souza of Westport, Daniel B. Souza of Westport, David B. Souza of NY and Louis B. Souza of ME; a sister: Gloria Santos of N. Dartmouth; a grandson: Patrick R. Varanese; and several nieces and nephews.
She was grandmother of the late Jill M. Varanese and sister of the late Manuel B. Santos, Jr., Antone B. Santos, Frank B. Santos, Joseph B. Santos and Mary Carvalho.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, June 8, 2009 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday 4 - 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
