William H. Baker Jr. 75, of Providence St., died Thursday, with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Irene (St. Laurent) Baker, his wife of forty seven years. Mr. Baker was born in Woonsocket a son of the late William H. and Cora (Brouillette) Baker Sr.
Bill was an accomplished Journeyman Bricklayer starting with the Local Union # 5 in Woonsocket and retiring from the Local Union # 1 in Providence after sixty years. He received his 50 year Gold Card for Excellence. Bill was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and prided himself with unique bikes and cars. In his younger days, he raced at Seekonk Speedway. His constant companion was his dog Corona. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by a son, Robert H. Baker of Woonsocket, and the proud grandfather of Bryan and Brandon Baker of Lincoln. He also leaves two sisters, Carole Kindeforski of Cumberland, Donna Baker Bourque of Narragansett, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also father of the late William C. Baker.
His funeral, to which family and friends are invited, will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:00 AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery in Cranston. Visiting hours are Monday 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
