Obituary

Methuen, MA - Lawrence G. “Larry” Godin, 83, a former Lawrence and Andover resident, died Wednesday May 20, 2009 at Caritas Holy Family Hospital.


Mr. Godin was born in Lawrence son of Alfred and Selinire (Boudreau) Godin. He was a graduate of Punchard High School in Andover and enjoyed taking continuing educational courses. During World War II he served his country in the United States Air Force and was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon before being honorably discharged at wars end.


For 38 years Larry was an engineer with Western Electric and Lucent Technologies before his retirement. Mr. Godin was a former attendant of Assumption B.V.M. Church in Lawrence. He played in social baseball and softball leagues, and enjoyed the Red Sox, fishing, and hunting.


Survivors include his wife and best friend for 54 years; Rita (Annaldo) Godin, children Mark & his wife Brenda, of Pelham, NH, Andrea and her husband Joseph Showers of Burke, Virginia, and Les Godin of Amesbury, Ma., his sister-in-law Arlene Godin of Salem, NH, and many nieces and nephews.


ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral Services and burial were private. Funeral Arrangements were handled by the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make donations in Larry’s name to the Jimmy Fund/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor
