Anna Ruth Broome Coburn, 98, of Buford, formerly of Tifton, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., June 7, 2009 in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. John Hughes will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Everette Coburn, Robert Coburn, Clay Coburn, Paul Hyler, James Coburn II, Glenn Coburn, Jarod Coburn and Mathew Coburn will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 6, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Coburn was born December 22,1910 in Walker County and was the daughter of James Gordon Broome and Ella Exa Shaw Broome, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Clay Coburn. She moved to Tifton in 1921 and lived here until 1987 when she went to live with her daughter in Buford. She was a member of New River Baptist Church in Tifton until joining First Baptist Church of Buford. She worked many years at Kulbersh's Department Store in Tifton.
Mrs. Coburn is survived by her daughter, Joy Pearl Coburn of Buford; three sons and daughters-in-law, Everette Clay Coburn and his wife, Sara Frances Gibbs Coburn of Lawrenceville, James Newton Coburn and his wife, Dora Mae Cox Coburn of Tifton and Arthur Lee Coburn and his wife, Ellen Shannon White Coburn of Winter Haven Florida; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
