Obituary

Virginia J. “ Ginny” ( Premuto ) Sheehan of Erie, PA, formerly of South Easton and Brockton passed away Tuesday June 2, 2009 in Erie, PA. Born August 22, 1916 in Mt. Vernon, New York, she was a daughter to the late Alfred and Maria ( Porcelli ) Premuto. She was the beloved wife of the late James P. Sheehan and loving mother of James P. Sheehan and his wife Betty Jean of Fairview, PA. She was also the cherished grandmother of Shawn M. Sheehan and his wife Alicia of East Taunton and Colleen Sansoucie and her husband Lyle of Erie, PA. Other survivors include her two great – grandchildren, Brent M. Sheehan and Teha L. Sheehan both of East Taunton, her brother Jerry Premuto of Mt. Vernon, New York and her three sisters, Mary McLaughlin of Mt. Vernon, New York, Josephine “ Pat “ Prenn of St. Petersburg, FLA, Marguerite Villa also of St. Petersburg, FLA and many nieces, nephews, great - nieces and great – nephews. She was also the sister of the late Anthony Premuto, Charles Premuto, Rose Vettorino, Ida Premuto, Florence Lifgren and Ann D’ Angelo.

She attended Mt. Vernon Public Schools and was a graduate of the A. B. Davis High School.

Ginny worked as a Secretary for Genung's Inc. of New york prior to her moving to Massachusetts in 1946 where she was employed as a Clerk in the Treasurer’s Office for the City of Brockton for 28 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a communicant and member of Holy Cross Church in South Easton. She was also a member of The 20th Century Catholic Club, The Charities Guild and The 20th Century Bowling League.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday June 6, 2009 at 8:30 A.M. from the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Followed by a mass of Christian burial for the repose of her soul at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Cross Church, 225 Purchase Street, South Easton. The Rev. Richard Segreve officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours will be held on Friday June 5, 2009 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M. in the funeral home.
