Lorraine J. Martineau, 76, of Snow St., formerly of Grove St., died Tuesday at home surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Martineau who died in 1999.
Born in Rochester, New Hampshire, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Avarita (Thibeault) Libby. She was raised in New Hampshire and resided in Lowell and Revere before moving to Woonsocket where she has lived for the past 40 years.
Mrs. Martineau worked for several area companies and retired in 1997 after working several years at the Wrentham State School.
Lorraine was a proud member of the BPOE Lodge 850 in Woonsocket and enjoyed attending and participating in many Elks activities. She also liked dancing, bowling, and reading.
Lorraine was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her most cherished times were those spent with her family.
She had a special affinity for her faithful companion, her dog “Rocky”.
She is survived by a son, Michael L. Martineau of Woonsocket, three daughters, Lisa Herzog of FL, Linda Atstupenas of Woonsocket, and Karen Martineau of Smithfield, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Marlene Brown.
Her funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, with a service in the funeral home at 10:00 am.
