Raymond Pierre "Pete" LeComte, 83, of New Bedford died on June 1, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Sylvio and Lena (Tetreault) LeComte, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. LeComte was formerly employed as head meter reader at Commonwealth Gas and Electric Company for many years until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid sports fan, who especially loved the New York Yankees. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and will be sadly missed by them.
Survivors include six children, Robert LeComte, Lucille Torres and her husband Bruce, Denise Worster and her husband Michael, and Matthew Jarvis, all of New Bedford, Raymond LeComte Jr. of Wareham, and Maurice LeComte of Fairhaven; four sisters, Claire Roy and Jeanne Pallatroni, both of Dartmouth, Muriel Denault of New Bedford, and Annette LeComte of Holden; a brother, Sy LeComte of Dover, Delaware; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Roger and Normand LeComte.
His Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
