QUINEBAUG, CT - Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Mroczek) Mayotte, 65, of the Quinebaug section of Thompson, died Monday, June 1, in Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, after being stricken ill at home.
She leaves her husband of 42 years, Joseph G. Mayotte; a daughter, Kathleen M. Mayotte of Quinebaug; 2 sons, Christopher J. Mayotte and his wife Lori of Sutton and Jeffrey T. Mayotte and his wife Kathy of Thompson; 4 grandchildren, Joe, Rachel, Olivia and Adam Mayotte; her mother, Stella T. (Jezerski) Mroczek of Thompson; a brother, Stanley Mroczek of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Barbara “Bobby” Kaliszewski of Thompson; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
She was born in Webster and raised in Dudley, the daughter of Joseph Mroczek who died in 1989. She moved to Quinebaug in 1971. She graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1962.
Mrs. Mayotte first worked at Came’s Donut Shop in Webster. She then was a practical nurse at Hubbard Regional Hospital. She then enjoyed baby sitting for many children. She was a clerk at Cumberland Farms in both Webster, MA and in North Grosvenordale, and at Rite Aid in Putnam. At the time of her death, she was a clerk in the Miner Grant Store at Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, MA.
She was a communicant of Saint Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley. Her favorite hobby was arts and crafts. She enjoyed trips to Cape Cod. She put everyone ahead of herself, especially her grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday, June 4, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., Dudley. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 3, at the funeral home.
