Anthony Giacalone, 82 of Medford MA, died Tuesday in the Massachusetts General Hospital Boston, MA. Born in Salemi, Sicily, he was the son of the late Francesco and Francesca (Pina) Giacalone.
Mr. Giacalone died after a brief illness. He was a Medford resident for over thirty-five years formerly of Boston´s North End. He worked for many years as a housekeeping aid at the Winchester Hospital and prior to that he worked in the construction industry as a tile installer for the Beacon Tile Co. of Hyde Park. He enjoyed gardening and early morning walks in the Meadow Glenn Mall.
He is survived by his wife Nancy (Conforto) Giacalone. Three daughters, Frances Favuzza of Woburn, Tina Giacalone and Pauline Memme both of Medford.sons-in-law Frank Favuzza and John Memme. Grandchildren Joanne, Suzanne and Frank Favuzza Jr., Sabrina and Nicholas Memme. Brother of the late Giuseppe Giacalone, Giovanna Galuffo and Carmella LoGrasso
A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford with the service celebrated by Rev. Wayne Belschner. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
