Richard J. Davenport, the husband of Frances E. (Silvia) Davenport, died at Morton Hospital on May 28, 2009.
He was 72.
Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Bernard and Gertrude (Sullivan) Davenport.
Educated in W. Bridgewater schools, he later moved to Taunton, where he resided for the past 30 years.
A mason by trade, Mr. Davenport was a member the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Union, Local #3 for the past 44 years, retiring at the age of 62.
A frequent traveler to Cape Cod, where he enjoyed fishing, he was also an avid sports fan.
Mr. Davenport was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves 2 sons, Richard Davenport, Jr. of Taunton and Michael Davenport of Carver; 2 daughters, Marcy Gruenburg and her husband Steve of Carver, and Corleen Godley and her husband Thomas of Kingston; a stepbrother, Thomas Clark of Taunton; a stepsister, Nancy Robinson of Taunton; 6 grandchildren, Jaryd Davenport of SC, Ryan Santerre of AZ, Seth and Sarah Davenport both of Plymouth; Kyle and Nicholas Davenport, both of Taunton; and many nieces, nephew and cousins.
He was also the brother of the late David Davenport and the grandfather of the late Nicole Davenport.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Tuesday June 2nd at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary's Church, Taunton at 9 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 1st, from 5 to 8 p.m.
