SALEM - Celia (Falta) Polchlopek, 86, of Salem, wife of Edmund Polchlopek, died Thursday afternoon, May 28, 2009 at the Masconomet Health Care Center, Topsfield, following a long illness.
Born and raised in Chelsea, she was the daughter of the late Vincent & Eva (Pajak) Falta. She was a resident of Salem for over 55 years.
Celia was employed by the John Hancock Life Insurance Company for 40 years in offices in Boston, Lynn and Salem and retired in 1985 as an assistant office manager.
She was a longtime parishioner of the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem, where she was a member of the Booster Club of the parish. Active in the parish, she was a member of the bingo committee and worked on many church events including dances, picnics, and anniversaries.
Besides her husband, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage, she is survived by one brother, Victor Falta of Peabody and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was the sister of the late Walter Falta, Stanley Falta, Julia Gurski, Bernice Hurley and Adele Januskevich.
Her funeral service will be held Monday, June 1, 2009 at 10 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 am at the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem. Visiting hours are Sunday 4 to 8 pm. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
