Obituary

Kevin P. Begley, 86, a resident of Methuen, MA., died peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family.

Kevin was born in Lawrence, the son of the late Thaddeus and Mary (Murphy) Begley. He attended St. Patrick's Grammar School and was a graduate of Lawrence High School with the class of 1942. A World War II Veteran, Kevin served in the United States Army having been stationed in North Africa, France, Germany and Italy with the 27th Evacuation Hospital. Kevin retired from AT&T after 34 years of service. He very much enjoyed spending "active time" with his grandchildren. He was a life-long parishioner of St. Patrick's Parish and a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society for many years. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and was also a member of the Outreach Program and visited home-bound parishioners and patients in the area nursing homes throughout his retirement. He was a member of the Men of St. Patrick, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Lawrence Lodge of Elks.

Kevin is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years: Evelyn (Walsh) Begley, also a son Kevin and his wife Celeste, daughters: Maureen Daher, Ann and her husband Daniel McDuffie, Eileen and her husband David Jaffe, and Patricia and her husband Mark Pelletier. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Kenny and Nicholas Daher, Brenna and Hannah McDuffie, Sarah and Katherine Jaffe, Marcus and Maggie Pelletier as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Kevin was predeceased by a son Thomas David, and brothers Thomas, John, Paul, and Gerald and a sister Marie T. Doyle.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Patrick's Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover. Family and friends may call on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA.
