Eunice Fuller Ingalls Cook, age 93, born in Norwich, CT, who would become forever known as "Sally", passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009, after a long and eventful life. Sally was the daughter of George and Blanche Ingalls of Norwich. She was predeceased by her brother William S. Ingalls, Sr., her second husband Witter T. Cook, her first husband C. Kirkner Bailey, Jr. and her oldest son Bruce M. Bailey. She is survived by her son Duncan I. Bailey of Norwich and her two grandsons: US Army Capt. Kirkner I. Bailey of Colorado Springs, CO. and Michael D. Bailey of Norwich. She is also survived by her nephews Robert A Ingalls and wife Terry of Niantic and William S. Ingalls, Jr. and wife Suzanne of Chelsea, MA and Lebanon, CT, six grand nieces and nephews and ten great grand nieces and nephews.
Sally was a graduate of The Norwich Free Academy, attended Wellesley College and graduated from the Univ. of Michigan, prior to her marriage to Mr. Bailey, and before his Army deployment in 1941. She taught world languages at The Norwich Free Academy. After retiring and marrying Mr. Cook in 1968, she moved to Holmes Beach, Fla. where she was an active retiree, serving the community at the Bradenton Library, and with Meals On Wheels. After Mr. Cook's death, Sally returned to the area in 1985 to be near her family. Sally resided in Westerly, RI, where she would continue in service to the community at the Westerly Library, Westerly-Pawcatuck Garden Club, Westerly Hospital and Westerly College Club.
A service to commemorate Sally's life will be held at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 1:30pm, immediately followed by a private interment. A 5:00pm reception for relatives and friends will be held at 26 Reservoir Road, Norwich.
