Obituary

George P. Spadafora passed away on May 23, 2009. He was 96 years old.

Born in Melrose, his home for the past 43 years, George was also a longtime resident of Malden. He served as a Staff Seargent in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the former owner of Spadco Tire and Supply Co. of Malden.

George was the devoted husband of Josephine (Ultrino) Spadafora, his loving wife of 67 years. He was the beloved father of George Spadafora Jr. and his wife Diane of Wakefield and Mary Ann Spadafora and her husband Tony Cabot of Squantum. He was the dear brother of Lena Nugent of Melrose and the late Frances Norton, Mary Collella, Josephine, Edith, Robert and Joseph Spadafora. George was the cherished grandfather of Lisa Thompson and her husband John of Medfield and the great- grandfather of Matthew and Ella Thompson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Thursday, May 28th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Wednesday, May 27th from 3-8 p.m. Interment Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.

In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 46 Myrtle St., Melrose, MA 02176.
