In Taunton, May 24, 2009, age 75, Robert A.Borges died in Morton Hospital after a period of failing health while surrounded by his loved ones. Robert leaves his beloved wife M. Adrienne (Pontes) Borges of Taunton. He was born in Taunton to his late parents Manuel & Bertha (Munise) Borges. He attended Taunton schools and graduated from THS in 1952. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army reserves. He was a manager with the U.P.S. Co. and St. Johnsbury Trucking Co.He later owned & operated Adrienne’s Coffee Shop and the Lampost Restaurant both of Taunton. Robert was a lifelong member of the Elks, enjoyed playing 45, fishing, the dunes, boating, watching the Patriots with his sons and spending time with his grandchildren. Besides his wife Robert leaves his children Robert Borges Jr. of Middleboro, Todd Borges of Harwich and Peggy Sousa of Taunton. His three grandsons and two grand daughters. His siblings Dianne Tavares of Taunton, Joan Botelho of CA., Doreen Henson of MO., Pat Blasek of PA. and Ronnie Bettencourt of Berkley and the late Arthur, Joseph, James and Antone Borges. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. in Taunton on Friday, May 29th at 9am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday from 5-8pm. Interment in the family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
