Obituary

Margaret M. (Sauer) McWalters, 84 of Bellingham died May 23 in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester from injuries she sustained in an auto-pedestrian accident in Bellingham on May 5. She was the wife of the late Francis J. McWalters who died in 1992.
Born in Boston, August 21, 1924, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Walsh) Sauer, Mrs. McWalters was raised in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston and had lived in Bellingham since 1964.
Mrs. McWalters had worked at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston for many years before retiring.
Mrs. McWalters had been the secretary for the Bellingham Elder Services and had been on the committee that developed the new Senior Center in Bellingham.
She loved to travel, visit casinos and play bingo, cross stitch and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Boston Bruins.
She is survived by her sons, Francis J. McWalters Jr. of Bellingham, Thomas J. McWalters and his wife, Lesa of Millbury and daughter, Maureen A. Coles and her husband, James of Orting, Washington.
She is also survived her sisters, Mary MacNiel of Norwood, Frances Kyne of Walpole and brother, James Sauer of Dedham.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nathan, Ashley, Vanessa, Delaney, Erin and Trevor.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 29 in St. Blaise Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 2:30 p.m.
Visitation will be on Friday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Box 845037, Boston, MA 02284.
