James Micheli, of Malden and long-time proprietor of Hillside Press in Melrose, died Wednesday at the Winchester Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 71.
Mr. Micheli was born and raised in Boston’s West End the son of the late Maurizio and the late Antonia (DiPietro) Micheli. James served in the National Guard for 12 years. A Malden resident for more than 40 years, James was active in St. Joseph Parish. He was a skilled pressman and craftsman of offset and letterpress printing at his company Hillside Press which is now conducted by his children.
He was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Skeffington) Micheli. He was a devoted father of James Micheli, Jr and his wife Crystal, Jeanne LaFauci and her husband Jay, Teri Micheli, and Joey Micheli all of Malden, Toni Trubiano and her husband John of Groton and Sandi Micheli of Southbridge. He was a loving grandfather to Laura, James, Christopher, Nicholas, Anthony Micheli, Marissa and Adrianna Trubiano. He was the dear brother of Fred Micheli of Fla.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.
