Dunphy, William L. of West Roxbury, May 24, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Helen F. (Doolan) Dunphy, his wife of 59 years. Loving father of Dorothea E. Dunphy of Canton, MA, William F. Dunphy of Attleboro, MA, Thomas A. Dunphy and his wife Carol F. of Merrimac, MA, Richard V. Dunphy and his wife Mary T. of West Roxbury, MA , Louise A. "Louanne" Dunphy of Amherst, MA, Philip G. Dunphy and his wife Dominique of Trumbull, CT. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Father-in-law of the late Louise M. (Harkins) Dunphy. Brother of the late John Bryon Dunphy, Eleanor Connors and Mary Nedvins.

Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Thursday May 28, at 9:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Chrysostom Church at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
Born in Boston, MA on September 3, 1919, raised in Dorchester, graduated from English High School in 1937. Attended Wentworth Institute before enlisting in the Army in 1940. Deployed to the South Pacific in January 1942 as a member of the 101st Medical Regiment of the Americal Division. Honorable Discharged in July of 1945. Former President of the Holy Name Band Association, Past 3 time National Commander of the Americal Veterans Association. Awarded “Life time achievement award” in 1993 from the Americal Division. Retired in 1982 after 35 years working for the New England Telephone Company. Member of the Telephone Pioneers Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2222.
