Silvio C. “Sal” Consalvo, 64

Dateline: Plainville, MA

Silvio C. “Sal” Consalvo, 64, of Plainville formerly of Mansfield passed away on Saturday May 23, 2009 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was the beloved husband of Joan M. (Boyden) Consalvo to whom he was wed to on October 29, 1966.
Born in Boston, MA on September 16, 1944 he was a dear son of the late Silvio P. and Mary (Buffarelli) Consalvo.
Sal grew up in Canton and was educated in Canton public schools. He had a great sense of patriotism and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class. Mr. Consalvo had worked the majority of his life in the construction field and was a heavy equipment operator employed for the past several years at the RJV Corp. in Canton.
Sal enjoyed riding his motorcycle and participating in yearly trips to Laconia, New Hampshire and had gone to Sturgis, South Dakota, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Daytona Beach, Florida to enjoy the motorcycle races and spend time with his friends who enjoyed the bikes as much as himself.
For years Sal had fished every Sunday with loyal and best friend Joe Pacella of Mansfield whom he considered a brother. He went to the gym every day prior to work to do cardio exercising and weight lifting with Joe.
When his sons were younger he served as a hockey coach and also helped with the Mansfield Little League. He took great pride in watching his sons play football, hockey and baseball. Mr. Consalvo was also involved with martial arts and was the proud recipient of a black belt in American Kick Boxing.
Sal will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. He was a giving person and always had a positive attitude. He possessed a great sense of humor and always put a smile on the faces of his family and friends while in his presence. He had made his home in Plainville for the past 4 years and was a former 33 year resident of Mansfield.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 43 years he is survived by his devoted sons Michael A. Consalvo, Sr. and his former wife Kathleen of North Attleboro and Gregory J. Consalvo and his wife Gina of North Attleboro. He was the adoring grandfather of Michael, Jr., Alyssa, Katelyn, Joseph and Gianna. He was the dear brother of Marianne Consalvo of Raynham and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews to whom he was also very close to. He participated in all family events and loved seeing and chatting with all of them.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday May 28th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St.(Route 106) Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 27th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Sal’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to A Child in Need care of Joan Consalvo 78 Pleasant St. Plainville, MA 02762.
