Obituary

Charles M. Cary, 85 years of Brockton died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Goddard Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton. He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Porter) Cary. Born and raised in Brockton, he was a son of the late Henry and Janet (MacPherson) Cary and remained a lifelong resident of the city. During WW II he served in the US Navy Asiatic Pacific Theatre as a Sonar Radar man. Mr. Cary retired as a foreman of maintenance for the Brockton DPW after 35 years. He was a life member of VFW Post 1046 in Brockton and twice was post commander. He was past commander of District 12 and he was also the past grand commander for the MOC (Military Order of Cooties). Mr. Cary had traveled extensively with his wife.

He is survived by a daughter Karen D. (Kelley) Jackson of McKinney, TX; three sons, Albert Maher of Brockton, Allan Maher of Stuttgart, Germany and Kevin Maher of TX; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Robert Robinson, Ruth Turnball and Florence VanBlacom.


Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 10am. Burial in Edson Cemetery, Lowell. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8pm. Donations in Mr. Cary’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
