Mrs. Geraldine K. McCarthy, age 73, of Woburn formerly of Somerville, passed away May 22nd at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of James J. "Mack" McCarthy. Born in Charlestown she was the daughter of the late Mary (Tumulty) and John Russell.
"Gerry" as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was a retired customer service representative and teller communications specialist in the banking industry. She also worked for a number of years as switchboard operator at Tufts University. Mostly devoted to her loving family, Gerry enjoyed being with her children and especially her grandchildren and also enjoyed to travel.
In addition to her late parents, Gerry is predeceased by five brothers and sisters. She is survived by her beloved husband James J. "Mack" McCarthy, and their children, Debbie Harvey of Woburn, Jimmy McCarthy of Woburn, Michael McCarthy and his wife Sheila of Wilmington. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, David, Kim and Kelly Harvey, Brian, Matt, Patrick and Erin McCarthy.
Her funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Wednesday, May 27th, at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home will held on Tuesday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Gerry's memory to VNA of Middlesex-East & Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Ave, suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
