PLATONI, Joseph (George), age 90, of Englewood, NJ died on Friday, May 22, 2009.
Beloved husband of Teresa (nee) Costella. Devoted father of George Platoni of Englewood, Patricia Marguccio of Little Ferry and Robert Platoni of Englewood. Loving father-in-law of Thomas Marguccio. Dear brother of the late Albi Platoni, the late Louise Pingue and survived by Jean Marino of Westwood. Loving grandfather of Andrej Platoni, Thomas and Michael Marguccio.
Joseph was a long-time member of Local 35 of the Mosaic & Terrazzo Operators Union. He was past Commander of Post 1 of the American Union Legion of Leonia, past President of Salt Water Anglers of Bergen County, co-founder of Montauk Surf Casters Association and former member of the NJ State Marine & Fisheries Council. Joseph enjoyed a reputation as an excellent fisherman and devoted conservationist. As important, he was a World War II Army Veteran.
Friends and family are invited for visitation at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ on Sunday, May 24th from 7-9 p.m. and on Memorial Day from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will begin Tuesday, May 26 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, and then to St. John the Evangelist in Leonia for a 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ.
