Richard H. “Dick” Caffelle 86 years, of Brockton died Thursday May 21, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a period of failing health. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years Helen A. (Hayes) Caffelle. Dick was born in South Boston and raised in Brockton a son of the late William and Clara (Webber) Caffelle. Following his graduation from Brockton High School in 1942 he entered the US Army and served in the European Theatre.
Dick retired after many years as a carpenter from Capital Contracting in Braintree. In his retirement he was an avid golfer playing at DW Fields Park and traveled extensively around the world. He also enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Brockton Senior League. Most importantly, Dick enjoyed time spent with his family. He had been a longtime communicant of St. Patrick Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his four children Richard Caffelle and his wife Barbara of Canton; Paul Caffelle of West Harwich; Daniel Caffelle and his wife Diane of Norton and Jean Humfryes and her husband Brian of Bourne. He leaves 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and was the brother of Edith Johnson of Holbrook; Winifred Pratt and her husband Leon of West Hartford, CT and the late James, Charles, John and Thomas Caffelle, Gladys Doten, Margaret Malaguti and Dorothy Horton.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 9 am. Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church at 10 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm.
