Robert J. Hamwey, of Sudbury, passed away peacefully at his home on May 20, 2009 surrounded by his beloved family. He was 62 years old.
Robert was the beloved husband of Corinne Robbat Hamwey, devoted father of Alex & Jaclyn. Son of the late Joseph and Olga Hamwey. Brother of Emile Hamwey and his wife Josephine of Reading, and Joyce Welch and her husband John of Melrose. Also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Robbat, brothers and sisters-in-law Al and Karen Robbat of Andover, Joan and John Buonomo of Malden, Paul and Linda Robbat of North Andover, MaryAnn Robbat and Matt Belge of Lincoln, and Phyllis and Bill Russell of Centerville as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Bob served in the US Armed Forces. He was the founder & owner of Joseph G. Hamwey & Son Oriental Rug & Carpeting in Belmont & Concord MA for more than 35 years. Bob was also a member of the Concord Chamber of Commerce, Concord Rotary Club, Board Member of the Oriental Rug Association, Board Member of St. Mary's Church and Sudbury youth soccer and softball coach.
Bob's generosity of spirit, positive attitude, fun-loving nature, captivating sense of humor and deep commitment to his family, faith, community and friends have warmed and enriched our lives. Bob waged a courageous battle with brain cancer and inspired all with his strength and dignity.
