Obituary

Dennitt J. “Joseph” Sampson, 92, passed away at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on May 19th, 2009. He was born in Lynn on December 27th, 1916 to his parents Wilfred and Edna (Gates) Sampson. Joseph was raised in Lynn before moving to Saugus. He has been a resident of Medford for the past 61 years. During World War 2, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Joseph was a Planner for General Electric in Lynn for 47 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Marino) Sampson; by his children, Judy Tompkins and her husband Joseph of Melrose, Pam Ward and her husband Robert of Melrose, David Sampson of Medford, Beth Hanson and her husband Kimbo of Medford and Mary Lou DeSimone and her husband Joe of Woburn; by his grandchildren, Kim, Keith, Rhea, Andy, Alison, Josh, Pam, Jen, Holly and Joey; and by his great grandchildren Alex, Madi, Nisa, Hannah, Ella and Kate Rose. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his brothers Leonard and Ernie Sampson. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday May 22nd at 11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 12 Noon. Services will conclude with entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday May 21st from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Mystic Valley Elder Services, 300 Commercial St., Malden, MA 02148.
