Obituary

Richard J. “Rooster”, “Dizzy” Hollis 80 years old of Easton died suddenly May 18, 2009 after a brief illness. He was born in Attleboro a son of the late Robert B. and Inez G. (West) Hollis. He was a graduate of Attleboro High School and later served in the US Air Force as a traffic controller where he received the good conduct medal. He retired from Crescent Ridge Dairy in Sharon and had previously worked at Cushman Bakery and Railway Express.
Dick had been a resident of Easton for the past 10 years and had previously lived for many years in Brockton where he had played on 2 adult softball teams. He played for 15 years with a record of 276 win and 62 loss record. He was an avid sports fan; he especially enjoyed the Boston Red Sox but his true passion was golf. Dick recorded 7 holes in one during his playing days.
Dick was the loving father of Kathleen M. Humphrey and her husband Bill of Easton; Marcia C. Spencer and her husband James of West Palm Beach, FL; Richard Michael Hollis of Brockton and the late Richard Mark Hollis. He leaves 7 grandchildren Billy and Michael Humphrey of Easton; Jennifer Smith-Emslie of Bridgewater; Amy Smith of FL; Katie Smith of MA; John Spencer of MA; Kelly Hollis of Bridgewater and the late Matthew Joseph Smith. He was the great grandfather of Jack Hollis Emslie and was the brother of the late Robert and Ronald Hollis.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service Friday at 12 noon at Holy Cross Church 225 Purchase St. So. Easton, MA. Donations in Dick’s name may be made to the Richard J.
