GOODE - Bonnie Marie Burks Goode, 64, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 18, 2009. She was born June 10, 1944 in Huntington, WV, the daughter of the late Ivan and Fannie Burks and moved to Fernandina Beach, FL in 1964. She was a member of Fernandina Beach Church of Christ where she was active with the Ladies Bible Study and other ministries throughout the years. She was known to many as “Granny Bonnie.” She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Bonnie loved studying God’s Word and ministering to those in need. She also enjoyed flower gardening and cooking for people. She is survived by her husband, Beauford Goode; daughters, Tonya Vincent and her husband, Rusty, and Kimberly Bennett and her husband, Eddie; sons, David Goode and his wife, Mary Ann, and Wesley Goode; five grandchildren, Melissa Vincent, Ansley Bennett, Wesley Goode, Brandon Vincent and Austen Bennett; a dear sister, Joyce Burns of Nashville, TN; brother Lenoard Burks of Ona, WV; two nieces that are more like daughters, Renee’ Gilkerson and Alice Hall; and other nieces and nephews. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Green Pine Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 at Fernandina Beach Church of Christ with Ministers Craig Williams and Cameron John officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Green Pine Funeral Home.
