Obituary

WORCESTER__Richard P. Galkowski, 71, of Worcester, died Sunday, May 17, 2009 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Ave., North.
He leaves a son, Steven Galkowski of Brookfield; a daughter, Nancy Galkowski-Hennessey of Worcester with whom he lived, three sisters, Constance Schultz of Corvallis, OR., Dorothy Galkowski of Worcester and Frances Kroll of Millbury. He also leaves Carole A. Gamble of Brookfield; his buddy, Remee and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Galkowski.
Mr. Galkowski was born in Worcester, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Naumnik) Galkowski. He worked as a typesetter for many years at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and was also a member of the White Eagle Club.
The funeral will be held on Friday, May 22, from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Church, 40 Temple St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday, May 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
