Nonie Frances Dickens Cox, 81 of Ocilla, Georgia, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 4 P.M., Thursday, May 21 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in Pinetta Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Cox was born January 1, 1928 in Irwin County to the late Charles T. and Maude Fletcher Dickens. She lived in Irwin County all of her life. Mrs. Cox graduated from Irwin County High School before attending South Georgia College and she received her teaching degree from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She retried after teaching for 38 years, teaching first and second grade at Irwin County Elementary School and in Chula and she also taught private art classes. Mrs. Cox was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband, Herman J. Cox of Tifton and a brother and sister-in-law, Charles F. & Becky Dickens of Ocilla.
