Obituary

DRACUT - Lora R. "Mem" (Bernard) Mailloux, 80, of Dracut, died unexpectedly Saturday morning May 16, 2009 at her home. She was the wife of the late Louis E. Mailloux who predeceased her in 1980.

Born in Lowell on January 24, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George Bernard and the late Lydia (Beauregard) (Bernard) Brokaw. She received her education in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of the former St. Joseph High School class of 1945.

In her early years Mrs. Mailloux along with her husband owned and operated the former Mailloux Package Store on Broadway Road in Dracut. Following it's closure she worked for the Town of Dracut in the assessors office for many years and finally and until the time of her retirement she was employed by Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington.

She was an active member and volunteer of St. Francis Parish in Dracut where she served on many parish committees. She was also a member and the first president of the Leo C. Roth American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Dracut. She was a member and held all offices including president of the former Dracut VFW Post 9307 before the post joined the Walker Roger Post 662 in Lowell.

For the past three years Mrs. Mailloux enjoyed her days spent at the D'Youville Senior Day Care Center in Lowell.

In her free time she enjoyed Red Sox baseball and Patriot football, playing cribbage and was a member of the Cribbage League at the American Legion and also enjoyed playing scrabble and Michigan Rummey. Most importantly she cherished time spent in the company of her family.

Surviving her are nine children Diane and Barry McInnes of Dracut, Joanne and Dennis Puzon of E. Chelmsford, Elaine Mailloux of Dracut and with whom she resided, Edward Mailloux of Dallas, TX, Denise and Brian Bellefeuille of Hudson, NH, Louis and Angela Mailloux of Wake Forest, NC, Gigi and Sam Pitocchelli of Dracut, Bernie and Cheryl Mailloux of Lowell and Arthur and Diane Mailloux also of Lowell; fourteen grandchildren Jason and his wife Sara Bardzik, Ben Bardzik, Rick McInnes, Scott and his wife Pam Mailloux, Breanne Mailloux, Jessica and Christopher Pitocchelli, Amanda, Alison, Justin, Alicia, Matthew, Michelle and William Mailloux; six great grandchildren Lana, Benji and Aaliyah Bardzik, and Brodie, Tyler and Nicholas Mailloux; two brothers Arthur Bernard of Arizona and Edward Bernard and his wife Flo of Mauldin, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday at 7:45 AM followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at 9 AM in St. Francis Church, Dracut. Cremation to follow.
