TEWKSBURY - Arlene J. (Nickerson) (Kenney) Maxfield, age 80, an active volunteer for C.T.I., died Sunday, May 17, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Charles Maxfield.
She was born in Melrose, April 8, 1929, a daughter of the late James and Dorothy (Adams) Nickerson. She was a member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church.
She worked in the dietary department at Tewksbury Hospital until retirement.
In her later years she was an active volunteer for Community Teamwork Inc., at the Blairehouse and Pines in Tewksbury, R.A.R.A. in Lowell, and Tewksbury Hospital.
She was also well known for her love of Bingo.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Barry Kenney of Essex Junction, VT, and James Kenney and his wife Joanne (Wood) of Tewksbury; a son-in-law, Robert Merrill of Tewksbury; six grandchildren, Bridget (Merrill) Garabedian of Tewksbury, Heather (Merrill) Crowley of Salem, NH, Matthew Diapella, Jessica, Joshua and Jaclyn Kenney all of Tewksbury; three great grandchildren, Paige, Hazel and Jane; many nieces and nephews; and was caregiver to Anna Menard for the last 20 years.
She was also mother of Sharon Merrill and sister of the late Ethel R. Jackson, Barbara Clancy, James Nickerson, and Jackie Geary.
Her Funeral Service were held Thursday, May 21, in the funeral home, followed by committal services in the Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Tewksbury Food Pantry, 999 Whipple Rd., Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
