Stella Benson Mixon, 71, of Tifton died Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Steve Hood will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 17, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Mixon was born on November 1, 1937 in Atkinson County and was the daughter of Gilford Rowe and Maude Rowe, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one brother, J. R. Rowe; and one granddaughter, Emilee Taylor. She was a homemaker and a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mixon is survived by her husband, Rev. Curtis Mixon of Tifton; one son, Darrell Benson of Tifton; one daughter, Barbara Benson Taylor of Tifton; one brother, Rudolf F. Rowe of Nashville; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Lee Taylor.
