Obituary

Mrs. Edith J. Castignetti, age 87, a longtime resident of Winchester, passed away, Friday, May 15th at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Castignetti who passed away in 1992. Born in Monastero di Morfasso, Piacenza, Italy she was the daughter of the late Clorinda (Zucchi) and Andrea Castagnetti.

Mrs. Castignetti came to the United Stated with her family at the age of 8. They settled in the West End of Boston and later lived in Boston's North End. Mrs. Castignetti married her husband Joseph in 1944 and together they owned and operated Moseley's Ballroom in Dedham for twenty-five years. Mrs. Castignetti was a lover of the Arts and in her leisure time she enjoyed painting and loved dancing. She also enjoyed learning and reading about astrology. Mostly devoted to her family she loved and cherished being with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her late husband and parents, Mrs. Castignetti is predeceased by her sisters, the late Mary Solari, and Celia Marubbi, brothers, Paul, Bill, Victor and Frank Castagnetti. She is survived by her sons, Robert Castignetti and his wife Earlene of Andover, Ronald Castignetti and his wife Peggy of Winchester. She was the loving grandmother of Robyn Gentile and her husband Paul of Medford, Danielle Castignetti of Andover, Julie Castignetti of New York City, Mark Castignetti of Andover, Amy Castignetti of Winchester and great granddaughter Gemma Gentile of Medford. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Her funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Thursday, May 21st, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Mary Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
