Eleanor C. Mathurin, 81, of Woonsocket, died Thursday at Mt. St. Francis Health Center. She was the wife of the late William J. Mathurin, Sr.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Amato and Maria (Decesare) Zinno, both natives of Naples, Italy.
Mrs. Mathurin worked as a clerk for McCarthy’s Department Store for many years.
Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a selfless woman who put others first and spent many years as a caregiver for members of her extended family. She took particular pride in keeping up her yard and liked to relax by her pool. Eleanor loved to entertain as it brought her joy to bring together her family and friends.
She is survived by a son, William J. “Bill” Mathurin, Jr., and his wife, Michele, of Westerly, two granddaughters, Alicia and Courtney Mathurin, both of Woonsocket, a brother, Joseph Zinno of Tiverton, two sisters, Gloria Petrosky of Westerly, and Irma Zajac of FL. She was the mother of the late Diane E. Mathurin who died in November 2008. She is also survived several nieces and nephews.
Her Memorial Mass will be Wednesday, May 20th, at 7:00 pm in Our Lady Queen of Martyr’s Church, Park Ave., Woonsocket. Visiting hours are omitted. Burial is private.
