Diane P. (Desrochers) Belanger, age 61, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at Sunny Acres in Chelmsford after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. She went home to be with the Lord.
She was born in Lowell on July 19, 1947, the daughter of Roland and Cecile (Santerre) Desrochers of Lowell.
Prior to her illness, Diane was employed at Millipore in Bedford, MA, a job and company she loved very much.
She enjoyed going to the beach, playing cards, knitting and making beautiful afghans for her family and friends. Diane was a very courageous woman who always managed to smile and was very grateful and thankful to her caregivers. She will be sadly missed all the days of our lives.
Besides her parents, Roland and Cecile Desrochers of Lowell, she is survived by three sisters, Jeanne Brodsky of Dracut, Rachel Landis and her husband Dennis of Hudson, FL and Louise St. Aubin and her husband Chuck of Chester, NH; two brothers, Paul Desrochers and his wife Hazel of Hudson, FL and Normand Desrochers and his long time partner, Darla Scott of Hudson, NH; an aunt, Rita Santerre who loved and prayed for Diane throughout her illness; also many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
At the request of he family, there will be no visitation. Funeral services and interment will be held privately at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society 101A First Ave., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451.
