Mrs. Gelders was born May 15, 1918 in LaGrange to the late James Edward and Beulah Haralson Traylor. Her mother died when she was two years old and she was fortunate enough to have a second mother, Gladys Marchman Traylor. She graduated in 1935 from LaGrange High School and received her associates degree from Georgia State College for Women in 1938. Mrs. Gelders married Albert L. Gelders in 1939 in Macon. During the time Albert served in the US Army Corps during WW II, she worked for an Ophthalmologist in Farmingdale, NY, later came back south and lived with her sister in Statesville, NC, where she was employed as a secretary for a furniture manufacture. In 1945 she moved back to Fitzgerald where the family took up residence in the Old Family Home Place. 1963 brought a change of residence to the Gelders family. They moved to the Washington, DC area, where Anne worked for the Prince George Post Newspaper. Mrs. Gelders newspaper career is quiet extensive, having worked in the family newspaper in Fitzgerald, The Leader, where she was a columnist “By The Way”, the Macon news in Macon and she was a former correspondent for the Atlanta Constitution, the Macon Telegraph and the Prince George Post in Hyattsville, MD. She was a receptionist and guide at the Blue-Gray Museum and a member for more than sixty years of Central United Methodist Church and the Upper Room Sunday School Class. Mrs. Gelders was an avid supporter of the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Humane Society and a Pink Lady at Dorminy Medical Center for many years.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jan Gelders and Winfred Tucker, Fitzgerald; sister, Julia Dyar, LaGrange; nieces, Mary Ann Hudson, LaGrange and Sissie Kincaid, Asheville, NC and a nephew, Tommy Kincaid, Statesville, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Gelders.
