Obituary

Joseph Lopes, husband of the late Dorothy Anne (Francis) Lopes died at his home unexpectedly on May 9, 2009.
He was 87.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Antonio and Antonia (Cruz) Lopes.
Educated in Taunton schools, he later served with the U.S. Marines during WW II and was a member of the American Legion, Post 121.
In 1946 he founded Lopes Sign Company, which he owned and operated for many years.
Mr. Lopes relocated to Norton with his family in 1957.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy and son-in-law, Jerry Roy of Cornish, NH; a son, Joseph A. Lopes and daughter-in-law, Debi of Norton; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; one sister, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son Richard in 1962, and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, May 15th at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 14th from 6 to 8 p.m.
