William A. D.MacDonald, 86, died Thursday at Sunrise Rehabilitation Center in Oswego, NY following a long illness. William was born June 1, 1922 in Boston, son of the late Archibald and Margaret (Dalrymple) MacDonald. He attended Boston schools and was a graduate of Northeastern University. William was a decorated veteran serving in the U.S Marine Corp during WWII in the Pacific Theater from 1943 until 1946 as a rifle sharpshooter. William was a highly respected Boston City Police Officer for 34 years, a member of the Boston Patrolman’s Association, and the Massachusetts Retirees Association. William was a Master Mason and member of the St. John’s Lodge in Boston for over 60 years. Mr. MacDonald was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years Myrtle G. MacDonald. He is survived by his son William P. and his wife Rosemary of Oswego, NY; his sister Olive Oteri and her husband Benito of Braintree and his granddaughters Nicole MacDonald of Rochester, NY and Megan MacDonald of Oswego, NY. He also leaves his nephew Tony Oteri and his wife Laura of Middleboro and his niece Bonita Oteri of VA. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14th at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St (Rt 3A), N. Plymouth at 11 AM followed by burial at the Mass. National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 13th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
